Use Case 3 Validation & Evaluation Workshop on Ischemic Stroke (Phase 2), 16 February 2026
Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) organised the Use Case 3 Validation & Evaluation Workshop for Phase 2 dedicated to ischemic stroke, bringing together researchers, clinicians, and technical experts to advance the development of AI-based tools for medical imaging, with a focus on stroke analysis.
The session highlighted ongoing work within the PHASE IV AI project, where teams are developing machine learning models to automatically detect and segment lesions in CT and MRI scans. Recent efforts have focused on establishing a robust technical foundation, including integrating multiple open datasets, building scalable data pipelines, and implementing preprocessing workflows to standardize complex imaging data.
In parallel, different model architectures are being tested to improve segmentation accuracy and reliability. Initial results demonstrate steady progress and provide a basis for further optimization. Current development is centered on enhancing model performance, improving data quality and consistency, and exploring methods to make better use of limited medical imaging data.
The collaboration brings together technical and clinical expertise, supporting the development of solutions that are both technically sound and relevant for future healthcare applications.
