Use Case 1 Validation & Evaluation Workshop on Lung Cancer (Phase 1), 16 September 2025

Nottingham Trent University hosted a PHASE IV AI workshop focused on Use Case 1: Lung Cancer. The session brought together project partners and stakeholders from across Europe to explore how synthetic data and AI-driven models can improve early detection, risk stratification, and clinical decision-making in the critical area of lung cancer.

The programme featured presentations on harmonising electronic health records (NUH), synthetic data generation (VARHA), and a series of medical imaging innovations (INESCTEC/EUT), including CT nodule detection, benchmarking synthetic data augmentation, diffusion model synthesis, and a synthetic CT data catalogue. Partners also showcased the Tune Insight platform for secure federated analytics and Fujitsu’s Health Data Hub and Catalogue.

The event concluded with a discussion and feedback survey, providing valuable insights into the clinical and technical potential of these tools. This milestone highlights the project’s progress toward secure, privacy-compliant AI solutions that can improve patient outcomes across Europe.
