KATY round-table discussion in Lisbon | 13 March 2025

We are pleased to share that our partner, The Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law (University of Vienna), took part in the roundtable discussionย  hosted by the KATY project, an EU-funded initiative.

On the 13th of March 2025, Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law (University of Vienna) conducted a round-table talk titled ๐—”๐—œ ๐—”๐—ฐ๐˜ ๐—œ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ – ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ข๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ on the legal, ethical, and societal aspects of the AI technologies in medical sector, and the impact, reception and regulatory aspects of the recently enacted EU AI Act (2024).
The discussion was part of the ๐—ž๐—”๐—ง๐—ฌ Annual Progress Meeting which took place in Lisbon.

This event brought together researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to explore the challenges and opportunities that the AI Act presents for AI-driven healthcare solutions. Events like this provide an excellent platform to engage with stakeholders and address critical regulatory challenges in health tech innovation.

The roundtable was attended by a panel of excellent external experts from law, human rights, AI, and healthcare, who are involved in medical research projects similar to KATY:

We are proud that our partners at the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law (University of Vienna) represented Phase4AI-EUProject, contributing valuable insights from our legal analysis of synthetic data in the context of healthcare regulation. Our participation highlighted key considerations for compliance, privacy, and the ethical use of synthetic data in AI systems.
